Paul Evans

Paul Evans first got involved in martial arts in 1986 when he trained in Aikido. This didn’t hold his interest and so he gave it up after six months. Paul Evans then spent the next 14 years not giving a thought to martial arts until a new 'quality inspector' started working at the same company as him. This man had just survived a horrific car accident and was putting his life back in order. Paul Evans was impressed by his attitude to life. He had not been fazed by the set back of the accident and his total dedication to martial arts and getting back on track inspired Paul Evans. This new Work collegue was
always telling Paul Evans about Kung Fu, and how it had helped to save his life not only physically but, mentally preparing him come what may.
This new work collegue was sifu Paul Burkinshaw, and in late 2000 he accepted Paul Evans as his student under Sil Lum Kune Kung Fu.
Paul not only trained several times a week but also took advantage of having private lessons as well. Due to this level of training Paul Evans has made very good progress within the art and has achieved assistant instructor level.
With permission off Sifu Paul Burkinshaw, Paul Evans has also trained with Andy Davies who founded the Tap Out association gaining more knowledge and skills in groundwork and grappling, which is also part of the Sil Lum Kune syllabus.
Paul Evans seized all the opportunities that were presented to him and has gained a St Johns first aid certificate and B.C.C.M.A Level 2 coaching course in 2002.
Due to Paul Evans' commitment and dedication to the club, Sifu Paul Burkinshaw asked him to take the next step from student to disciple in late 2002, which Paul Evans gratefully accepted.
In 2003 Paul Evans qualified as a B.C.C.M.A Qingda judge, and now in 2004 is currently working on obtaining a B.C.C.M.A Level 3 National coaching qualification which he was awarded in the latter half of 2005
In March 2004 Paul Evans opened his first club in Leamington, Warwickshire under Sil Lum Kune and then one in Kenilworth.
In March 2005 Paul achieved his Black sash grade.
